Pakistan Premier League likely to clash with Indian Premier League next year

The rivalry between India and Pakistan is not only between the two governments but it seems like there is rivalry between both the cricket boards. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a tentative schedule of the inaugural event of the Pakistan Premier League (PPL), which is likely to clash with the Indian version of the Twenty20 competition. According to an official, the opening and closing ceremonies have been set for March 25 and April 10 next year respectively. If the event goes ahead as per the tentative schedule, the knockout stages are certain to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) that starts from April 3

"We didn't have much choice. The window after the South Africa tour is the only period available as per the Future Tour Programme," The Express Tribune quoted the official, as saying.

The South Africa cricket board had reportedly refused to reschedule the dates for the Pakistan series, which includes three Tests, five One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20s between February 1 and March 24, 2013.

However, the official said the discussions were made with the broadcasters and sponsors during the PPL committee's visit to Dubai along with PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf.

"Broadcasters and sponsors have not shown any reservations. They have given a thumbs-up to the schedule. Only a few matches are coinciding. The IPL will stretch for nearly two months and the clash will not create many problems for us. Even if the leagues have common stars, they will just miss one or two IPL matches. We are now keeping our fingers crossed," the official said.

The PCB is targeting 30 international cricketers, including five 'super stars' for each of team in the league.

Pakistan cricket team to play against India in last of 2012

The cricket match between India and Pakistan is always remembered and waited cricket match not only for the Indian and Pakistani but cricket lovers from all over the world and the match between two rivals in expected at last of 2012 in India.  India's home ministry has cleared a limited-overs tour by the Pakistan team, prompting the BCCI to say the tour "is on" at the end of the year. The clearance was given at a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday between ministry officials and senior representatives of the BCCI - including its chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty, IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla and chief executive Sundar Raman.
Pakistan Vs India will resume from this year

"We have discussed all security aspects (and) the tour is on," Shukla told reporters after the meeting.
The tour - which now needs only a formal announcement by the two boards to be official - will comprise three ODIs and two Twenty20s at Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Pakistan are due to arrive on December 22 and Shukla said the tour would continue till January 7 but the detailed schedule is yet to be announced.
However, there is little room for flexibility because the series is sandwiched between two legs of England's tour of India. It will be the first bilateral series between the two sides since Pakistan toured India in end-2007, though they have met in international tournaments. Cricket ties between the two countries were snapped following the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai by militants from Pakistan.

ICC approves day-night Test with colored balls

The ICC on Monday gave its seal of approval to the day/night Test matches while leaving the member Boards to decide on the type and colour of the ball to be used, as it announced new playing conditions for Tests, ODIs and T20 internationals ahead of Sri Lanka-New Zealand series beginning Tuesday.
Some countries, including Australia and England, have been experimenting day/night Test matches for some time and with the ICC's decision on Monday, the longest format of the game may be held under lights very soon. "Participating countries may agree to play day/night Test matches. The home and visiting boards will decide on the hours of play which will be six hours of scheduled play per day while the two boards will also decide on the precise brand, type and colour of ball to be used for the match," the ICC said in a statement.

The world body announced a slew of changes in the playing conditions, including powerplays, fielding restrictions and short-pitched deliveries in the ODIs, Decision Review System (in Tests and ODIs), no-ball, dead ball, over-rates, applicable in all the formats and changes in one over-per-side Eliminator in T20Is.

"The new playing conditions for Tests, ODIs and Twenty20 internationals will come into effect with the series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, which starts in Pallekele on Tuesday 30 October. The amendments have been approved by the ICC Board following proposals made by the ICC Cricket Committee at its meeting in London in May," it said.

Under the new playing conditions, there would be two blocks of Powerplays in an ODI, instead of existing three.

"In an uninterrupted innings, the first Powerplay will be restricted to the first 10 overs with only two fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle. The second five-over batting Powerplay (in an uninterrupted innings) will have to be completed by the 40th over and only three fielders will be allowed outside the fielding restriction area at the time of delivery," the ICC statement said.

"In the non-Powerplay overs, no more than four fielders will be permitted outside the 30-yard circle."

Regarding changes in one over-per-side Eliminator in T20Is, the ICC said, "In both innings of one over per side eliminator, fielding side shall choose from which end to bowl.

AFC Challenge cup 2014:Cambodia withdraws from 2014 AFC Challenge Cup

The Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) on Friday announced its withdrawal from the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup, a tournament featuring many of the Asian Football Confederation's 'emerging' national team programs.

Cambodia have participated in the competition since its inaugural edition in 2006, when they were eliminated after finishing in third in Group C. In their 2012 campaign, Royal Khmers beat Macau on aggregate before losing to Maldives, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan in the group qualifying stage.

"The FFC wants to concentrate on building youth and grassroots programs [in the country]," FFC Deputy General Secretary May Tola said in a statement, also citing limited financial reach due to the ongoing construction of the country's new national football center in Bati.

Cambodia are presently without a manager following the resignation of coach Hok Sochetra earlier this week.

The 2014 AFC Challenge Cup qualification phase will determine the teams which advance to the final tournament. The qualification draw was scheduled to be held on 25 October 2012, in AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but has been postponed to November. The qualification matches are scheduled to take place 2–17 March 2013

2013 Africa Cup of Nations: Grouping, Fixture and Schedule

With the competition just over two months away, the 16 competing national teams were Grouped in 4 different groups. The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final competition draw took place at the Durban International Convention Centre in South Africa on 24th October 2012 , with the 16 countries qualified for the tournament discovering who their opponents will be.The 16 teams were divided into four pots ahead of the draw. Pot A contained the seeded teams which included hosts South Africa, defending champions Zambia, Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana. In Pot B Tunisia, Nigeria and Mali were joined by Angola.
North Africans Morocco and Algeria formed the base of Pot C, adding Niger and Burkina Faso to their section, leaving Togo, Cape Verde, DR Congo and east African hopefuls Ethiopia in the final Pot.

As host nation, South Africa qualified automatically as a top seed in Group A, and they were joined by minnows Cape Verde, north African giants Morocco and Angola.

On paper, it would seem that Group D is the most competitive of the four, as powerhouse national team Cote d'Ivoire find themselves selected in a section containing Togo, and the north African pairing of Algeria and Tunisia.

Other interesting clashes include Ghana against Mali in Group B, with DR Congo and Niger completing the group, while the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be facing the current Afcon title holders Zambia. The two remaining national teams in Group C are Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.

The 16 teams will play in five host cites throughout South Africa from January 19 to February 10, 2013, to determine the African champion who will represent the continent at the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup.

Sydney Sixers Claim the Champions League T20 title

Opener Michael Lumb put up a terrorizing display of hitting as Sydney Sixers overwhelmed Highveld Lions by 10 wickets to lift the Champions League Twenty20 trophy at the New Wanderers Stadium here, on Sunday.

The Aussie franchise restricted the home team to 121 after electing to bowl and then shot down the target with 45 balls to spare, as Lumb (82*, 42b) and skipper Brad Haddin (37*, 33b) made the most of dropped catches.

Lumb was named Man of the Match and also received the Golden Bat for being the highest run scorer. Left arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc was named Man of the Series, for being the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 14 scalps.

For a brief phase it seemed that Highveld Lions would make a match of it. After being 9 for 4 they had scraped together a score that touched the foot of competitiveness, put their faith in their two left-arm strike bowlers - Dirk Nannes and Sohail Tanvir - who had given away just 10 runs in their first four overs.
Champions of Champions of 2012

This was the second Champions League T20 title for a team from New South Wales; current champions Brad Haddin, Steve O'Keefe, Moises Henriques, Steve Smith and Ben Rohrer were part of the winning NSW squad in 2009 too. Like the previous final, Haddin almost missed this one with an injured thumb, but not only was he spot on with the call at the toss, he spun a rabbit out of his hat after putting Lions in.

Indian Grand Prix: Vettel wins fourth consecutive GP

Defending world champion Sebastian Vettel cruised to his fourth consecutive win and extended his lead in the title race of 2012 to 13 points when he steered his Red Bull car to victory in the Indian Grand Prix.
The 25-year-old German dominated the race from start to finish as he led from pole to the chequered flag to come home ahead of nearest championship rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Sebestian Vettel after win

Vettel's Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber finished third to consolidate his grip on third in the title race, the Australian fending off a strong late challenge from Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who finished fourth ahead of his team-mate and compatriot Jenson Button. Felipe Massa came home sixth in the second Ferrari ahead of his old friend Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus, Nico Hulkenberg of Force India, Romain Grosjean in the second Lotus and 10th placed Bruno Senna of Williams.
It was Vettel's 26th win and he revelled in his familiar trick of adding the fastest lap of the race in the final lap and then standing atop of his car to milk the applause from the crowd.
Vettel, aiming to become Formula One's youngest triple champion, said: "Two years and two wins here, it's a very special Grand Prix, I don't know what it is about this circuit.

"A big thanks to my team, we're all pushing very hard.

"This is another good step (to the title) for us but there is still a long way to go."

Alonso commented: "It's not easy at the moment to fight with Red Bull but we will never give up...."

By the way, the fastest lap of the race went to McLaren’s Button. It shows the McLaren had the pace but the Red Bulls had the better overall package.

ACC Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup: Nepali women Cricket team leaves for China

Nepal will look to play competitive cricket against the likes of Test playing nations when the ACC Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup begins from October 24 in Guangzhou‚ China. Nepal Cricket team leaves for china today.
Nepal is drawn in Group ‘B’ with Test nations Sri Lanka‚ Bangladesh and hosts China where one loss could knock them out. The Group ‘A’ features India‚ Pakistan‚ Thailand and Hong Kong. The senior team is playing in their first international event 20 months after finishing fourth in 2011 ACC Twenty20 Championship in Kuwait.
After Kuwait event‚ the Nepali women have so far played two national-level events — sixth National Games that ended in March and recently concluded Women’s National Twenty20. Since the team only completed 13-day training before leaving for China today‚ Nepal’s coach Samson Jung Thapa has no ambitious target.

“We will try to give our best. We are playing against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka‚ while as hosts China will get a lot of advantage. The Asia Cup is a good opportunity to prove ourselves‚” said Thapa. The coach knew his team will have to come with an upset result to fancy any chance of progressing to the semi-finals.
“Every match is going to be final for us. There is no point of taking China lightly because they are the ACC Women’s Twenty20 Championship finalists. We have to come with an upset win to reach the semi-finals‚” he added. China finished second after losing to Hong Kong in ACC Twenty20 Championship where Nepal had lost to Thailand in the third place playoff.
The coach is expecting a lot from his allrounders. “Girls like Roshani (Bohora)‚ Nary (Thapa)‚ Neera (Rajopadhyaya)‚ Sarita (Rana Magar)‚ Rubina (Chhettri) and Sita (Rana Magar) can bat well and do better with bowling. If they play to their potential‚ anything is possible‚” he added.
Neera — who was the part of the team that finished runners-up in the ACC Women’s Tournament in 2007 in Malaysia — was excited. “Asia Cup is a big opportunity for us as we are playing against some tough teams in the world. We are ready to fight against them‚” Neera said.
“We let them play nine matches here (TU grounds) in the centre wicket which will help a little bit. The training has also been better. We can expect a better display from them‚” said assistant coach.
