SAFF Championship 2011: Final Afghanistan Vs India

Afghanistan won against Maldives by 3-1 in first semifinal . India played well to defeat maldives and the man to watch Sunil Chhetri scored twice to give india a 3-1 win.  Sunil Chhetri’s spot-kick turned out to be the difference between the two sides after Shamweel Qasim had cancelled out Syed Rahim Nabi’s first half goal. The Delhi lad scored another at the death to become the competition’s leading goalscorer with six goals.

while in the second semifinal played later on the day moves up to the extra time when dominnat Nepalese strikers fail to score . An extra time strike by Belal Arezou ensured that Afghanistan continued their forward march in the SAFF Championship at the expense of Nepal with a 1-0 win at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi to enter the finals.

This was after the two halves of action failed to produce a goal. The Afghans shall face India in the finals scheduled for December 11.
