2008 AFC Challenge Cup winners India will host 2012 semi-finalists Palestine in India on 6 February 2012 and on the same day newly appointed Nepalese coach Jack Stefanowski will take charge of his first match at the helm as Nepal host AFC Challenge Cup 2014 qualifiers’ Group B contenders Pakistan at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu.
India, who failed to win a single match in the 2012 edition of the cup, are in Group A where they meet Myanmar, Chinese Taipei and Guam. The Group A qualifiers will be held in Myanmar capital Yangon.Palestine are in Group D which also features hosts Nepal as well as Bangladesh and debutants Northern Mariana Islands. Nepal, after witnessing a disastrous campaign back home in 2012, will play two matches against Pakistan as the second match will be played on 9 February 2013.
Pakistan, who failed to qualify for the tournament proper in 2012, have difficult opponents in the likes of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Macau in Group B.
A total of 20 teams have been divided into five groups. The five group winners and two best second-placed teams will join hosting nation Maldives at the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup finals.
