Maldives to play Friendly match against Pakistan in February

Football Association of Maldives (FAM) and Pakistan Football Federation are trying to arrange an international friendly match between 10th and 15th February 2013. According to maldivesoccer.com, FAM president Ali Azim said that they have informed the PFF authorities regarding the possible dates


“We have informed them regarding our preferences. We are waiting for them to inform regarding the dates”
"They have informed that they would prefer to have the matches after 15th of this month. But we would like to have it before that date. We are waiting for a final word from them" 
According to reliable sources, PFF initially wanted the tournament to be held in early February, but the dates were not feasible as the national stadium will be used for the youth championship 2012. Maldives have got an automatic qualification spot for AFC Challenge Cup 2014 as the hosts and FAM is trying to arrange friendly matches to build up the team for the tournament. RecentlyMaldives Under 23 has won the Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa International Football Tournament after beating Pakistan Under 23 by 2 – 1 in the finals. 

Maldives, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh took part in the tournament.
