ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier: Kenya wins african title, Uganda and Kenya from Africa

The Pepsi ICC Africa Division 1 T20 Qualifier came to an end on Fridat at Kampala with Kenya being crowned as the new African champion. Defending champion Uganda and Kenya finished on 10 points each only for Kenya to have a better net run rate (Kenya's 2.517 and Uganda's 1.784 run rates).
The two teams have qualified for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier to be held later this year in Dubai, UAE.
Kenya won the toss and opted to bat scoring 156 for five in its allotted overs. Kenya's Alex Obanda 64 runs off 43 balls, was ably supported by Collins Obuya who knocked 40 runs off 23 balls. With figures of one for 15 in four overs, Daniel Ruyange was the best bowler.

Uganda embarked on to chase but was restricted to 137 in 19.2 overs losing by 19 runs to Kenya. Uganda had yet another false start with both opening batsmen falling cheaply but Lawrence Ssematimba with 20 off 23 and Deusdedit Muhumuza's 22 off 16 balls brought the innings to sanity. The two had a partnership of 37 runs. Later tail enders Brian Masaba and Henry Ssenyondo added 30 runs off three overs.

James Ngoche (three for 18) and captain Collins Obuya (2-19) were the best bowlers on view.

At Kyambogo, Nigeria won the toss and opted to field only for Botswana to score 158 for three in 20 overs. In its reply, Nigeria ended at 105 in its 20 overs to lose by 53 runs.

Faisal Rana Rasheed (57 off 46) and Mothanka Karabo (44 off 39) added 104 runs for the first wicket. Endurance Ofem (two for 24) was the only wicket taker in this innings.
