The Philippine Azkals struggled for the entire first half of their last game in the 2012 UAE Tour against the Australian U-23 Olympic Team. Jason Hoffman, number 9 from the Australian U-23 scored the lone goal of the game at around 11 minutes.
The Philippine Azkals were playing without some of its regular players such as Phil and James Younghusband, Chieffy Caligdong, Borromeo, Rob Gier and Fil-German Stephan Schrock to name a few. Those players were injured and some have commitments.
Starting for the Philippine Azkals were Etheridge, A.Guirado, Sabio, Angeles, De Jong, De Murga, Wolf, JL Guirado, Bahadoran, Araneta and Jonsson.
The Philippine Azkals have a good second half but failed to score and most importantly they denied the Australian with a score against them. Neil Etheridge have some brilliant saves in the crucial minutes of the game.
Angel Guirado and Denis Wolf were teaming up with a wonderful attack for the Philippine Azkals which managed some positions in the second half. The Azkals have their own good shots but the Australian keeper was able to maintain his position. A chance for Joshua Beloya to score for the Azkals in a pass made by Lexton Moy is one of the golden opportunity for the Filipinos but the kick was way out of target. This is the third friendly match of the Azkals in their UAE tour for the preparation of upcoming AFC Challenge Cup which is scheduled to start from 8th of March in Kathmandu.
Philippines are grouped with India, DPR korea and Tajikistan in Group B of AFC Challenge Cup.
