AFC Challenge Cup 2012:Philippines Beat Qatari Club Al Ahli In A Friendly Match


Philippines registered first victory in UAE Tour as they defeated  Al Ahli 3-1 on Monday night. Phil Younghusband scored twice while Denis Wolf added another for the Azkals. Ali Solaima scored a consolation goal for the losing side. 

The Azkals were beaten by Uzbekistan Olympic team 3-0 in their first match on 11th February. They will play their third match against Australia U-23 on Thursday. 

Philippines are grouped with India, DPR Korea and Tajikistan in Group B of AFC Challenge Cup. 
The Philippine Azkals won against the Al-Ahli Doha, Qatar after they dominated the team for most of the time.
In the beginning of the game, a ceremonial goalkeeper was playing for the Al-Ahli Sports Club, a former member of the team and at the same time a member of the National Football Team of Qatar. Phil Younghusband scored at around 9 minutes in an indirect free kick and gave the Philippine Azkals and advantage with 1-0. Another goal was made by Denis Wolf from a miss coming from James Younghusband and he follow it up for the score at 2-0 at around 45th minutes.
At the 53rd minute Phil Younghusband scored another goal from a long ball pass made by Roland Muller. The Azkals lead with 3-0 advantage. Al Ahli answered with a goal at around 57th   minutes.
