Chelsea defenders Cahill and Luiz fit for Champions League final

Gary Cahill and David Luiz are both expected to play Saturday's Champions League final against Bayern Munich after coming through a training session yesterday safe.

The fitness of both central defenders has been a major headache for interim first-team coach Roberto Di Matteo, who admitted that he was struggling to have an 18-man squad available for the final in Munich.
Chelsea is without the suspended John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires and Raul Meireles, while Florent Malouda is no more than 50/50 because of a hamstring injury.

Yesterday was the first day that Cahill and Luiz have both trained with the rest of the first-team squad after suffering hamstring injuries last month. It appears that Di Matteo will risk both with first-team coach Eddie Newton suggesting that the starting XI had already been selected.
Cahill said: "This was my first session with the boys and it was good. Moving around, doing everything and, touch wood, no reaction. Thankfully it's healed quickly."
Luiz also looked to be moving easily at Chelsea's open training session and his fitness, in particular, will be a relief to Di Matteo, given his depleted resources.

Newton said of Luiz and Cahill: "It was something that we desperately needed. And to have both of them is a major boost to the squad. We are pretty clear on the team now, with four boys out and especially with the two boys coming through today."
Chelsea fly to Munich on Friday, and have made provision for a victory parade on Sunday should they win the trophy for the first time in their history.
