West Indies lift the ICC T20 trophy after winning final against Sri Lanka

The final of ICC T20 world cup was between two unexpected teams and the result was even surprising as West Indies come back after the poor start to win the match against host Srilanka on the 7th October 2012 at colombo. West Indies won the match by 32 runs after Srilanka was able to make just 101 runs in 18.2 over chasing 138.

After winning the toss West Indies opted to bat first and started poorly as as Srilanka took early grip on the match by keeping the west indies down to 14/2 in first six power play overs. The dangerous man gyale struggled for 16 deliveries to score just three runsbefore he was Samules trapped leg before by mendis.The hero of the match Marlin samules smashed sixes and fours to score 78 from just 56 balls and that leads Indies to make the fighting total of 137.mendis was the pick of the Bowler as he completed his quota in 16th over of west Indies inning conceding 12 runs and took four important wicket.

Chasing the total of just 137 runs in front of home croudTilak ratne Dilshan was out for golden duck . though sangakara and jayawardane steadies the inning later on but that wasn’t sufficient for them to reach the target. As Samuel badree gave the indies break through by dismissing Sangakara after 42 runs partner Ship. Then after wicket start falling continiously . later Kulasekara showed some agression in favour of Sri lanka but that was not sufficien

Shane watson was declared the man of the series while samules was the man of the match.This was the first title for west indies after winning the Campions trophy in 2004 in england

This here (the trophy) is for the Caribbean people. West Indies fans all over the world have been craving success. I know they're partying from Jamaica down to Guyana. And we know how to party.
