Nepal enters the semifinal of ACC Elite Trophy 2012 as Group Winner

Nepal cricket team enters the semifinal of ACC Elite cup after winning their last league match against Hongkong in UAE by 125 runs. Nepal after winning the toss chose to bat against Hongkong and made the total of 225 though they started slowly.Nepal loss its first wicket when there was no run on score board as Subash returned pavilion for 0. These time also Nepali bats man showed some patience and made 72 runs for second wicket between gyanendra and Anil until gyanendra fall for 28. Anil manadal scored 37 and this time also Captain played well to score 61 of just 54 balls. Other batsman contributed well from their side. 

On reply Hongkong was never look comfortable while chasing as they lose their wicket in regular interval. Amrit bhattrai and Basant regmi 3 wicket each while man of the match took 2 wicket. Gauchan took one while another one was run out.

Though Nepal falls behind UAE in run rate the rules of the tournament suggest that if two teams are tied on points, the head to head record would count rather than the NRR. On that count, Nepal tops the group. So this time Nepal will not face the Afghanistan in the semifinal and Nepal will face Malaysia in the semifinal at at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Other Semifinal Match will be played between UAE and Afghanistan at GCA1 ground. The winner of the two semifinal will play Final to lift the Trophy in Sharjah Friday october 12 2012. Nepal have beaten Malaysia in recently finished ICC division 3 league match where Nepal topped the group with five wins and Malaysia was in bottom 2.
