Jose Mourinho returns as Chelsea manager, signs 4-year contract

Jose Mourinho has been appointed as Chelsea manager for a second time, the Premier League club confirmed on Monday.Following weeks of speculation, the 50-year-old Portuguese has signed a four-year contract with the club he previously coached between 2004 and 2007.
"I am delighted to welcome Jose back to Chelsea. His continued success, drive and ambition made him the outstanding candidate," said chief executive Ron Gourlay in a statement published on the Chelsea website.
"It is our aim to keep the club moving forward to achieve greater success in the future and Jose is our number one choice as we believe he is the right manager to do just that."
"He was and remains a hugely popular figure at the club and everyone here looks forward to working with him again.'

Since leaving Chelsea in 2007, the 50-year-old Portuguese has worked in Italy with Inter Milan and in Spain with Real Madrid, lifting three league championships, two domestic cups and the Champions League overall.
Earlier on Monday, Mourinho had hinted at his 'inevitable' return.
"I cannot speak as manager of Chelsea because I am not. I am going to London and I think that between Monday and the end of the week I will be the coach of Chelsea," he told Spanish television programme Punto Pelota in an interview released on Monday."I expect to be the next coach of Chelsea. I would like to be it because I was happy in London and I feel that the people love me there.
"Life is beautiful and short and in life you have to look for what you think is best for you."
Mourinho's time in Madrid came to a controversial end in Saturday's 4-2 win over Osasuna as he was booed by the majority of the crowd on his final appearance at the Bernabeu, but was supported by the club's ultra group of fans and even went to take pictures with some of those in that section after the final whistle.

And the 50-year-old even had one last go at the Spanish press after they reported on Saturday morning that Iker Casillas, Pepe and Cristiano Ronaldo's absence from his final game in charge had been Mourinho's decision rather than due to injuries as he claimed afterwards.
