Ganesh Thapa, a Football legendry from Nepal Elected as a Regional VIce president of AFC

 Ganesh Thapa a football  legendry of Nepal and also a president of ANFA (All Nepal football association) has been elected as a vice president of AFC(Asian football Confederation)). On the election held on 6th of January 2011during during the AFC Congress 2011 in Doha, Qatar. Mr Ganesh Thapa defeated the only opponent of Iran´s Ali Saeed Loo by 25-20 in the South & Central Asian Zone election. Malaysia’s HRH Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and Zhang Jilong, of China, were elected as vice-president unopposed. Abdullah was unopposed in the ASEAN vote while Zhang saw all his opponents withdraw on the day in the East Asian Zone while Yousuf Yaqoob Al Serkal (United Arab Emirates) was only candidate from west zone.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) also elected Mohamed Bin Hammam the only candidate as the president of AFC. , the 61 year-old Qatari will be given a third and final four-year term as head of the Asian football governing body. Similarly Jordan's Prince Ali bin Al Hussein stunned powerful South Korean Chung Mong-Joon by unseating him as a FIFA vice-president.
Manilal Fernando, of Sri Lanka, and Thailand’s Worawi Makudi have won seats on the FIFA Executive Committee as AFC representatives after voting on Thursday at the 24th AFC Congress.There were two seats up for elections with four candidates. Also in the frame were Japan’s Kohzo Tashima and China’s Zhang Jilong.

Fernando picked up 23 of the 45 eligible votes while Worawi gained 24 votes to retain his seat on FIFA's decision-making body. Victory was by a simple majority.

AFC’s four representatives on the FIFA Executive Committee are as follows:
Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein (FIFA Vice President, Jordan)
Mohamed Bin Hammam (Qatar)
Vernan Manilal Fernando (Sri Lanka)
Worawi Makudi (Thailand)

Ganesh thapa, previous national player who had already played for the national team of Nepal and have given Nepalese football lots of pleasure in international arena and he also played his professional football from Bangladeshi club. The win for the thapa was only possible after the the candidate from India mr praful patel and other south asian contender has  withdrawn their candidacy in support of Ganesh thapa.
