Watch Live streaming of Champions League Semifinals First Leg:BAYERN MUNICH Vs REAL MADRID

BAYERN MUNICH Vs REAL MADRID
Venue: Allianz Arena, Munich
Date:April 17, 2012;
Time: 06:45 GMT [+5:45 NST]

The first of the two semifinal clashes will see nine-time champions Real Madrid square off against four-time champions Bayern Munich in what is bound to be an epic battle this Tuesday.
This game will unleash one of the fiercest continental rivalries – competitive, controversial, vitriolic and prestigious. The rivalry they induced on and off the field has so far been wild and with no holds barred. The two teams met for the first time in the continental tournament in the semifinal of the 1976 edition, the Golden period of the Bavarian giants. Bayern brushed Madrid aside over two legs and went on to win the Championship as well. The tie landed the Spanish giants in troubled waters, as one of their fans attacked Müller and the match official of that game. As a result Madrid were handed a five-year ban from participating in European tournaments, but somehow managed to get the punishment reduced to three away games.

Facts about two Opponents:

The Bayern Munich has posted six straight home victories in the Champions League and has won 12 of its last 13 European outings at the Allianz Arena.

Bavarian outfit has never lost to Real Madrid at home (W8, D1). Munich's overall record against Madrid is W10, D2, L6.

The clubs have met each other in four previous European Cup semifinals, with Bayern prevailing three times (1976, 1987, 2001) to Madrid's one (2000).

Jupp Heynckes, who won the Champions League in his solitary season at the Madrid helm in 1997-98, has never beaten Spanish opposition over two legs as a coach.

Real Madrid is unbeaten in this season's Champions League and, with just six goals conceded, has the best defensive record of the teams still involved in the tournament.

The Castilian giants have recorded just one victory on German soil in 22 attempts (W1, D6, L15) - a 3-2 success over Bayer Leverkusen in 2000-01.
Madrid is making a record 23rd semifinal appearance in Europe's elite club competition and is seeking to reach its 13th final.

Cristiano Ronaldo (pictured right) has struck 14 Liga hat tricks for Madrid, two more than Ferenc Puskas' tally for the club, but still well behind Alfredo Di Stefano's record (22).
