Eng star Sarah Taylor on verge of becoming first woman to play county cricket with men

England star player Sarah Taylor is on the verge of becoming the first woman ever to play for a men English county team. Taylor said Sussex contacted the women''s national team coach Mark Lane about using her back-up wicketkeeper for its second team next season, News.com.au reports.

Taylor told a British newspaper on Monday that she would love to play for the men team, however, there was a part in her that doubted herself. Taylor will play for a men''s club team in Birmingham this year but could be on standby if Sussex needed a wicketkeeper at short notice, the paper said. The 23-year-old Taylor, who is about to leave for the 50-over World Cup in India, said it is a daunting prospect but it''s brilliant that coach Lane backs her to do it in men''s cricket.
