If an
Indian national daily's report is to be believed, Bollywood star and part owner
of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh Khan is on the lookout to
offload 20 per cent stake in the team. The team won the championship last year is jointly owned by SRK
and Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla as well as her life partner, Jay Mehta. The
duo bought the Kolkata-based IPL franchise for more than $75 million five years
ago.
SRK is readly to sell the 20 per cent stake only if he gets the
right price for it. The KKR team was valued at $57.5 million in 2011 but their
value would have shot up the roof after the team won the championship in the
fifth edition. SRK is looking to making a profit of at least $40 million from
the sale. It is obvious that SRK is looking for some handsome return on
investment. How fever, even if the sale goes through successfully, SRK and Juhi
will continue to be the major shareholders of the franchise.
