AFC U-16 Championship 2014:Nepal Qualify for AFC U-16 2014 Championship

Nepal makes clear step in the final round of the tournament with seven points in three matches to stand as the group winner.Bahrain’s 2-1 narrow win over Iraq clearly benefits Nepal as the home team qualifies for the final round of the tournament to be played in Thailand in 2014. Nepal U-16 had done it before in 2000 and 2006.Bahrain’s fate depends on remaining group matches while previous semifinalist Iraq is out of the tournament.
A Hat trick from Bimal Gharti Magar and a piece from Dinesh Rajbanshi helps Nepal in comfortable 4-0 win played at the home of Nepali Football, Dasarath Rangashala.The group winners started early in the game with first attack. A cross originated from left side of the flank by Kiran Sunar found Bikash Thapa’s header that got the cross bar to deny Nepal’s early attempt in the game and the host team continued their dominance in the possession. However Nepal almost conceded a goal in 27th minute, but the fine left footed shot from Musam went inches away from the far post on a missed counter attacking opportunity from Turkmenistan.

A long ranger from Anil Rai was victim of beautiful save from Turkmenistan goalkeeper Berdiyev who stretched at his full to save the ball. However Nepal got the lead in first half with Bimal concluding the half in second minute of added time to head the ball home after a fine work from Amit Tamang who produced an assist to Nepal’s captain.

Nepal doubled the lead and Bimal found his other goal in 51st minute with a solo effort in goal. His left footed shot from opponent box found Berdiyev ‘s hand, despite got the net.

The third goal came from Nepal after continuous passing play as Nepal played couple of passes to break Turkmenistan defense. A shot from Dinesh Rajbanshi on a tight angle found the net as a result of opponent keeper Berdiyev’s blunder to let go the ball for third goal of the match.

Bimal completed his hat trick with a ground shot in 81st minute scoring to the right side of the post with his left foot as Nepal ended the group winner with two wins and a draw. Stay with us for the Exclusive update of the AFC U-19 Championship 2013.
