Seeking to retain its title, the Indian football team will
undergo a 10-day camp in Bangalore ahead of the SAFF Championships to be held
in Kathmandu in the first week of September.The tournament is slated to be held
from September 1 to 11 in the Himalayan Kingdom Nepal.
The camp, to be held under the watchful eyes of national coach
Wim Koevermans, will start on August 16.India is the most successful team in
the tournament, having won the title six times since its inception in 1993.
India had thrashed Afghanistan 4-0 in the final at the
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here to emerge comfortable winner in the ninth
edition.Just two days prior to the start of SAFF camp, the Indian team will
play an away international friendly against Tajikistan in Khujand on August 14.Koevermans
had last week announced a list of 30 probables for the Tajikistan match.As per
the latest FIFA rankings, Tajikistan are placed at 106th in comparison to
