ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2013: Nepal to face Pakistan in their First Match

ACC has announced the Fixture of ACC U-19 Asia Cup that is scheduled from 28 December 2013 to 4 January 2014.Nepal is placed in Tough Group along with India, Pakistan and UAE.  While in Group B two test Playing nations Srilanka and Bangladesh along with Afghanistan and Malaysia will try to reach the Final.


    Nepal will play against Pakistan U-19 Team in ICC GCA 1 Ground in 28 December while in next match Nepal will face india in the same Ground on 29 december. In their Last League Match Nepal will play against UAE at Sharjah Cricket Stadium Semifinal of the Tournament will be played between the winner of Group A and Group B on ICC GCA Cricket Ground and Sharjah Cricket Stadium on 2nd Januray. While Final will be played on Januray four on Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

ACC U-19 Asia Cup :UAE to host U-19 Asia Cup

UAE which is also hosting ICC U-19 World Cup Cricket Next year will also be hosting ACC U-19 Asia Cup this Year in December.Asian Cricket Council has honoured UAE to host the Under-19 Asia Cup from December 26 till January 4 following the success of inaugural ACC U-19 Asia Cup in Malaysia last year.

The tournament will feature the Asian Test-playing countries’ U-19 sides together with the top four ranked Associate U-19 team: Afghanistan, UAE, Malaysia & Nepal.The teams are divided into two groups. The Group A will have India, Pakistan, Nepal and UAE while Group B will have Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia.


The last Under-19 Asia Cup was held in Malaysia where the final between India and Pakistan ended in a nail-biting tie. Nepali Cricket Team played against Pakistan, Malaysia and India in the last edition. It lost both the match against India and Pakistan and won against the host.

Pakistan won by 8 wickets

Nepal won by 107 runs

ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in December

Asian Cricket Council is all set to organize U-19 Asia Cup in December. ACC has forwarded proposed date of 26th December for kick off of the Tournament. 8 Team will play in the highly coveted tournament especially for the top 4 Asian Non Test Playing Asian Teams when as they take on the U-19 sides of asian cricketing giants-India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh for the title. The fixtures of the tournament are yet to be finalized.

  Nepali Cricket Team qualified for the tournament despite Nepal’s worst show in the tournament history, finishing fourth in the recently organized ACC U-19 Elite Cup in Malaysia. Afghanistan, UAE and Malaysia are the other 3 teams of the tournament. Afghanistan won the title defeating UAE in the finals while Malaysia beat Nepal for the place in the podium. Afghanistan(and UAE) also qualified for the U-19 Word Cup The poor show of U-19 team in the ACC Elite Cup meant Nepal could not play the U-19 World Cup in 2014.This tournament was not however ACC 2013 calendar and had to be adjusted in order to manage other dates.

With the success of senior team the U-19 side has been absolutely neglected in recent times. CAN has been busy preparing for the two world cup qualifiers.When even the preparation for World Cup Qualifiers is under scrutiny it will be interesting to see how CAN prepares the U-19 team for the Asia Cup.

CAN announces 15 members squad for ACC U-19 Asia Cup


Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Friday announced 15-member squad for the upcoming ACC U-19 Asia Cup scheduled to be held in Malaysia from June 23 to July 1.
Prithu Baskota will lead the team while Pradeep Airee will be assisting his captain as vice captain. Nepal who is placed in group A will face India, Pakistan and Malaysia in group stage matches.

Other players who were part of the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier included in the squad are Avinash Karn, Bhuwan Karki, Fazlur Rahman Khan, Krishna Karki, Naresh Budhayer, Rahul Vishawakarma, Rajesh Pulami Magar, Sagar Pun and Subash Khakurel.
CAN selected four new cricketers who were no part of the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers held in Ireland last year. They are Hasim Ansari, Gopal Kumar Singh, Saurabh Khanal and Ram Naresh Giri.According to CAN the team was selected on request of Nepalese cricket coach Pubudu Dassanayake 
Four players have been kept as reserve. They are Nischal Pandey, Rupesh Srivastav, Pawan Shrestha and Prajesh Bahadur Singh.
Subendu Pandey, Abhishek Jha, Bijay Ghalan, Binod Lama, Shiva Tandukar and Sushil Kandel were axed from the 26 member preliminary squad who had been undergoing training in closed camp for last couple of weeks in Kathmandu.
