Pakistan’s Wasim Akram marries Aussie girlfriend Shaniera Thompson

Former Pakistan paceman Wasim Akram on Wednesday announced that he had married his Australian girlfriend, Shaniera Thompson, saying he has started a new life on a happy note."I married Shaniera in Lahore last week in a simple ceremony and this is the start of a new life for me, my wife and for my kids," Wasim told AFP.The 47-year-old's first wife Huma died in 2009 after multiple organ failure.

Wasim proposed to the 30-year-old former public relations consultant on bended knee last month and they married on August 12.Thompson came to Karachi earlier this month before going to Lahore to see Wasim's ailing father. There the marriage was solemnised in the presence of immediate family and a few close friends.

Wasim said Thompson had converted to Islam and is learning Urdu."She has embraced Islam and is learning our language. She has been close to my sons and they form a very good bond," said Wasim of his two sons from his first marriage.He said his new wife was eager to settle quickly in Pakistan.

 "I sincerely hope the people of Pakistan and our friends and supporters across the globe will give us their blessing and support," he said.

Wasim played 104 Tests and 356 one-day internationals for Pakistan in a career lasting from 1984 to 2003.
He was regarded as one of the best left-arm fast bowlers to have played the game and remains a major celebrity in Pakistan.Wasim was player of the tournament in the country's only triumph in the World Cup, in Australia in 1992. He captained Pakistan to a runners-up finish in the 1999 World Cup in England.

Raina, Jadeja involved in heated argument over dropped catch

Indian players Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina were involved in a heated on-field argument over a dropped catch during India's tri-series match against the West Indies yesterday.
India crushed West Indies by 102 runs via Duckworth-Lewis Method in a rain-curtailed match but the ugly incident involving the duo seemed to be a blot in an otherwise facile win.

The incident happened after Jadeja dismissed ninth West Indies batsman Sunil Narine caught by Ishant Sharma with the fifth delivery of the 34th over. After the dismissal, Jadeja was seen walking upto Raina and saying a few things which the Uttar Pradesh batsman didn't find amusing. Raina also replied and before things could get out of hand, skipper Virat Kohli intervened and told Raina to cool down. 

  Jadeja was apparently annoyed as Raina failed to judge a catch offered by Narine in his previous over. Jadeja may have also been unhappy that Raina didn't attempt for a Narine catch earlier which might have miffed the Saurashtra all-rounder.
After Jadeja dismissed the last batsman with the very next delivery, Raina walked upto Jadeja and tried to patiently tell his junior colleague a few things putting his hand around his neck. Later both were seen chatting and sharing a laugh while leaving the ground.

IPL 6 Match Fixing Scandal: KKR, RCB match may come under scanner for 'match-fixing'

A recent IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore may also come under the scanner of Delhi Police for "match-fixing" after the interrogation of Rajasthan Royal's player Ajit Chandila and bookies who have been arrested on charges of spot-fixing, police sources said today.However, Delhi Police said as such they have no evidence to corroborate the claims of Chandila and others made during questioning in the IPL spot-fixing scandal or to come to a conclusion that the match was fixed.

The match in question is the one played between the two teams in Ranchi on May 12 which KKR won by four wickets.Police sources came out with these details a day after the arrest of Bhupender Nagar, a security manager of two night clubs in Delhi.

   They said Nagar was in touch with Chandila for the past seven-eight months as the player was a regular in the night club located in a prominent hotel in Nehru Place.Nagar's friend Vicky, also a bouncer in a night club of a prominent hotel in New Delhi, wanted to get in touch with some cricketers in the first week of May. Within two days, Nagar took Chandila, who came from Bangalore, to a night club in Vasant Kunj where Vicky met him.Later, Nagar, Vicky and two bookies went to Jaipur to meet Chandila to get some information on a particular match."Chandila was asked by the bookies about who will win the match between KKR and RCB on May 12. The spinner told the bookies that KKR will win and actually KKR won the match," a senior police official said.

The bookies had agreed to pay Rs 30 lakh to Chandila but refused to pay him later as they had claimed to have incurred loss due to a low-scoring match. RCB batted first and scored 115 and chasing the target, KKR made the winning run in the 20th over.

Rahul Dravid hints at retirement from the Indian Premier League

Rajasthan Royals skipper and Mr dependable of Indian Cricket Team Rahul Dravid has hinted at retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after this season.
After beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL Eliminator in Delhi at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Wednesday, Dravid told reporters that he is aware that they "need to start looking ahead for younger players". With the win, the Jaipur-based team also qualified for the Champions League to be held in India from September 17 to October 6.

Asked whether he will play in the Champions League, Dravid said: "I do not know. I have never envisaged that it would be my last campaign and there is no more cricket after this. With Champions League coming up, I really don't know."

While the fans of Kolkata Knight Riders are still celebrating  the team's glorious win against Chennai Super Kings in IPL season 5 , owner of KKR Shah Rukh Khan is already preparing for the next IPL season.

According to reports, SRK wants the team to create an even bigger buzz next time round and for the starters, SRK wants the team anthem to undergo a change and sound more aggressive. And, to realise the same, the actor has reportedly approached R & B singer Akon to do the honours.

SRK, who worked with Akon for Chammak Challo, a hit single from his superhero flick, Ra.One, wants the singer to create yet another sensational track.

Music composer Vishal Dadlani, who was behind the lyrics of the first anthem of KKR, talked to a daily about the same and said, "It will be a newer version of Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo Re. Vishal added by saying that the track will be a "celebration and explosion of the fun-filled Bengali culture." When quizzed about the role Akon has to play in the anthem, he said, "I am still not sure of any such development. I am in constant touch with Akon and so is SRK. Nothing has been finalised yet."

Australian cricketer 'sexually assaulted American woman and severely beat her fiancee

Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach has been arrested on molestation and assault charges, a senior Delhi Police official said today.

The 27-year-old is accused of molesting American Zoe Khan and physically attacking her fiancee Sahil Peerzada in a city hotel during a party after Pomersbach's Bangalore team had beaten Delhi in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Thursday.

Police commissioner KC Dwived said: 'The lady complained he molested her and after he left the room, he came back again and tried to force his entry into the room.'

'I am shocked to be in this position. I can't believe this is happening and I'm really disappointed when people make things up,' Pomersbach was quoted as saying by The Weekend Australian newspaper.

The Australian cricketer was subsequently granted an interim bail by a city court.

Khan and her fiancee Peerzada are undergoing treatment in a city hospital.

Attended by celebrities from the world of cricket and show business, IPL post-match parties have drawn criticism but league chairman Rajeev Shukla said the body no longer has anything to do with the events.

'Let the law take its course and police decide, it's about the behaviour of an individual player.'

The incident follows Kolkata franchisee owner and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's altercation on Wednesday in Mumbai with the Wankhede Stadium officials, who have banned him from entering the ground for next five years.

Even as the suspense continues as to why Bollywood actor and Kolkata Knight Riders' co-owner Shah Rukh Khan allegedly had altercations with the security and officials of Mumbai Cricket Association, it is known that the guard had pushed SRK's daughter at Wankhede stadium angering the actor.

According to a source present at the Wankhede Stadium, Shah Rukh lost his cool after the security deployed by the Mumbai Cricket Association barred the actor's children son Aryan and daughter Suhana  from entering into the ground.

If sources are to be believed, the security guard spoke rudely with the children and pushed Suhana (daughter of SRK) out of the ground which got the actor furious.   "Sab chod tune inko haat kyon lagaya, I am here only jo karna hai karlo," SRK was heard daring the security guards of MCA.
 Shah Rukh, who spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon, denied he had misbehaved or was drunk but said he was reacting to the "obnoxious" and "unpardonable" behaviour of officials at the stadium. He said he had not been present at the match but had gone there after it was over to pick up a large group of his children and their friends.

He said he saw security guards manhandling the children and when he objected a group of officials came over and the altercation started. "I said a few things in anger. I was one and they were 20-25 officials and they were extremely rude. When I tried to answer them, they hid behind others," the actor said. "There was nothing illegal, I was not on the pitch. I know the rules."

The security personnel Dalvi who was deputed at the exit to the VIP area and dressing room refuted that the children had no access passes thus they could not be allowed on the ground.The stadium was already vacated and partial lights too were switched off which was indication for the team and ground staff to vacate the ground.

The children who had accompanied with the actor were stern and refused to leave the ground which coaxed the security personnel to take drastic step.

When Dalvi refuted that he was right in his actions and was doing his duty, reportedly SRK stunned all  by slapping the security personnel which summoned the other members of MCA and IPL officials to intervene. 

The story didnt end here, furious Khan after the brawl walked off towards the dressing room to join his teammates in the celebration, where he bumped into a couple of Mumbai Indians supporters who asked SRK for his autograph and innocently said that though KKR won the match they support their city team which miffed SRK who ended up abusing an young girl (Mumbai Indian) fan.

Navin Shetty the committee member of MCA added, "Shah Rukh was drunk state and started abusing all the committee members and couple of Mumbai Indians fans too. He also slapped one of our security officials Dalvi, when we intervened Shah Rukh along with the Moorani brothers forcibly entered the dressing room too. We have already given an written complaint to the Marine lines police station and imposed an life ban on the actor to enter the Wankhede stadium untill the probe is concluded".

The west London club released a statement on their official website confirming the decision to remove the Portuguese trainer from his position.

"Andre Villas-Boas has parted company with Chelsea Football Club today.

"The board would like to record our gratitude for his work and express our disappointment that the relationship has ended so early.

"Unfortunately the results and performances of the team have not been good enough and were showing no signs of improving at a key time in the season.

"The club is still competing in the latter stages of the Uefa Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League, and we aim to remain as competitive as possible on all fronts.

"With that in mind we felt our only option was to make a change at this time.
"With immediate effect Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed first team coach on an interim basis until the end of the season."

However, taking forward the discussion Shah Rukh said Juhi wanted the clothes to be in pink. "Juhi's suggestion was to make our clothes into pink and that suggestion may follow if you don't win the finals this year. And you can imagine Yusuf Pathan in pink dress," the 46-year-old said.

Hashim Amla became the father of a baby boy after his wife gave birth to their first son in Durban on Wednesday afternoon.

The South African cricketer was released from the ODI squad to be with his wife during this special time.
The Proteas have promptly congratulated Amla on the new addition to his family.

"It's a special time for Hashim and his family, we miss him in the squad but family comes first," Sport 24 quoted South African ODI captain, AB de Villiers as saying.

"We'd like to wish him all of the best with his bundle of joy and hopefully the young one can hold a bat like him one day, South Africa could do with another Hashim Amla in the future.
