ACC Women’s championship: Nepal registered won second win over UAE

Nepali Women secured another empathic win over UAE by 86 runs in their second match of ACC Women’s Championship 2013 at Gymkhana today. 

Nepal won the toss and without any hesitation in the sunny afternoon, they opted to bat. The opener Madhu Thapa once again couldn’t give the start and went cheaply for 3 runs off 21 balls. While the other in-form opener Sita Magar scored 46 runs (48 balls, 7 fours) and gave the team a solid platform before she was stumped of Humaira Tasneem’s bowling. 

  Similarly, Roshani Bohara 7, Nary Thapa 16, Rubina Chhetri 5, Neera Rajopadhyay 4* contributed in Nepal’s innings. But, Sarita Magar did all what the doctor ordered in the day. She remained not out for 41 runs (44 balls, 3 fours) and closed the innings with the perfection. Nepal ended the innings (25 overs) scoring 145/5. UAE bowlers gave away 23 extras. 

For UAE bowlers, Kyna Vedhasinghe took two wickets while Aysha Naushadkhan, Petule Nadar & Humaira Tasneem chipped in with 1 wicket apiece.

In reply, Nepali bowlers showed their decent attack as UAE failed to score enough runs for the win. Humaira Tasneem with the score of 12 runs was the top scorer for UAE. Sonu Khadka took important three wickets to lead Nepal to an easy situation. Karuna Bhandari claimed two wickets while Rubina Chhetry, Nary Thapa and Sarita Magar later added a wicket each to their account.

Player of the match was awarded to Sarita Magar for her all-round performance. Magar was the most economic bowler with the figures of 5-2-8-1.

Nepal will take on Malaysia on Sunday at the Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club Ground.

Nepal won the ACC U-19 Women’s championship 2012


Nepal defeated Thailand by 6 wickets to lift the title of ACC U-19 Women’s Championship for the third consecutive time on Friday at KOC Hubara, Kuwait.
Winning the toss, Nepal choosed to field first. Rubina Chhetri took the crucial three wickets and Sangeeta Gauchan grabbed two wickets as Nepal bundled Thailand to a low total of 74 runs in 23.4 overs.
Thailand had a slow start as Sonu Khadka started the first over conceding only 2 runs. Rubina Chhetri bowled Sainammin Saenya in the first ball of the second over.

Srintra Saengsakaorat went for run out in fourth over to make Thailand struggle in 11 for 2. Santoshi Kumari Chaudhary could not continue with her bowling as she was warned for her wrong bowling action.
Nepal had no tight fielding though, they missed a couple of run outs and a couple of drops. Skipper Nattakan Chantam was dropped off the maiden over from Indu Verma. Nepal had three maidens in between from 7th to 9th over. Nattakan who looked good with her bat, played some good shots for Thailand, including two fours of the Saraswati’s tenth over. Nattakan(22) could not go on with her bat though and the partnership of 24 runs came to an end as she was bowled by Sangeeta Gauchan in 12th over.



Chanida Sutthiruang went for a run out in 3rd ball of 17th over as Thailand were at 58 for 4. The wickets then started falling for Thailand. Phira-on Khamla went for a run out scoring 13 runs. Wongpaka Liengprasert was bowled by Sangeeta in 18th over. Rubina again bowled Sureeporn Laomi for 7 runs to make Thailand struggle at 69 for 7.
It was not enough though, Mamta Chaudhary took the wicket of Suthida Chaichana in 23rd over. Arreeya Priyakhunakorn went for a run out in 24th over and Rubina again struck a last wicket in 24th over as Nepal received the low target of 75 runs.
Nepal too had a bad start as Anuradha Chaudahry(0) had to depart for lbw in 5th ball of the inning. Dropati Kunwar(0) then joined Anuradha in the pavillion as she was bowled in the second over with Nepal struggling at 0 for 2. Kavita Gautam went out in 7th over leaving the partnership of 19 runs. Indu Verma then was caught in 8th over putting Nepal to 19 for 4.
Mamta Chaudhary and Rubina Chhetri accelerated the innings for Nepal then. Chaudhary(21*) and Chhetri(24*) then put up a big partnership of 56 runs to guide Nepal to victory with four overs to spare.
Rubina Chhetri was adjudged as the player of the final match. She also got the award for player of the tournament. Dechen Wangmo from Bhutan was adjudged as batter of the tournament. Bowler of the Tournment was awarded to Suleeporn Laomi from Thailand.

Nepal Beat Bhutan to reach in Final of ACC U-19 women's Championship!!


Defending champions Nepal entered the final of ACC U-19 Women´s Championship as they  beat last edition finalist Bhutan by three wickets at KOC Unity Ground, Kuwait on Thursday.Losing the bat Nepal was Invited to bowl as Bhutan decided to bat First.The Bhutanese innings was largely built around Dechen Wangmo´s 48. Yeshey Wangmo contributed 26.Bhutan manage to score 96 run with loss of 7 wicket in allotted 25 Over. 

Nepal chased down the 97-run target losing seven wickets with foul balls remaining in the 25 overs-a-side match. 
Saraswoti Kumari Chaudhary became the most successful Nepalese bowler grabbing two wickets.
Nepal will now face Thailand for the title clash on Friday. Nepal looks as favourite as Nepaal has already Defeated Thailand in Group matches. Hope Nepal will manage to defend its title. ACC U-19 Women's Championship:Nepal to face Bhutan in semifinal


Nepal fixed their semifinal clash with 2010 finalists Bhutan in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship Cricket Tournament on Monday. Nepal defeated Thailand by four wickets in their last league match to top Group A.
Nepal had earlier defeated Thailand by 83 runs during the first edition of the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship at Chiang Mai, Thailand. On Monday, Thailand batting first after winning the toss scored 86 runs for the loss of four wickets in 25 overs.
Sirintra Saengsakaorat was unbeaten on 34 runs off 60 balls with a boundary. Chanida Sutthiruang scored 26 off 44 balls while Sureeporn Laomi scored 11 runs.
Nepal’s skipper Rubina Chhetri, Santoshi Chaudhary and Sangeeta Gauchan grabbed a wicket each.

In chasing the moderate total of 87 runs, Nepal lost six wickets and reached the target in 22.4 overs. Nepal did not start well as they lost the first wicket with 11 runs on board. Opener Shilu Rijal and Anuradha Chaudhary were back on the pavilion with one run each. Nepal were three down by the start of the fourth over with 12 runs on board.
Indu Verma, who was adjudged the player-of-the-match, was not out on 40 runs off 53 balls with three boundaries. Berma shared a 28-run partnership with skipper Chhetri for the fourth wicket. Chhetri was back on the pavilion with her personal 11 runs off 31 balls. With the fall of the skipper, Nepal lost another wicket of Pratiksha Basyal on duck.
Verma was supported by Mamata Chaudhary for the sixth wicket as they shared a 41-run partnership. This was Nepal’s highest partnership in the match. Chaudhary gave away her wickets after scoring 12 runs. Sonu Khadka was not out on two runs.

Nepal beat Thailand to reach semifinal of ACC U-19 Women’s Championship


Nepal topped the group ‘A’ of the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship maintaining their winning streak in the tournament. Nepal defeated Thailand by four wickets on Monday in their last group stage match at KOC Hubara Ground, Kuwait.

Thailand won the toss and elected to bat. Nepali bowlers gave a brilliant performance and restricted Thailand at 86/4 in 25 overs. S Saengsakaorat top scored for Thailand with unbeaten 34 runs.
In reply, Indu Barma scored unbeaten 40 runs to guide Nepal to 87/6 in 22.3 overs. Barma was declared player-of-the-match.Once Nepalese girls seem to be under pressure losing three early wicket but Indu’s man of the match performance brought joy for Nepali fans.
Nepal will face Bhutan in semifinal on Thursday.

ACC U-19 Women’s Championship: Nepal beat UAE by 68 runs in Kuwait


Nepal defeated the UAE by 68 runs on Sunday to pull third consecutive victory in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship being held in Kuwait.
Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first at the KOC Unity Ground. Nepal put up 158/8 in 25 overs.

Nepal lost their opener Shilu Rijal (nought) in the first over but opener Anuradha Chaudhary and Indu Verma put up 52 runs partnership for the second wicket. Anuradha scored eight runs. Verma contributed 32 runs, which was the highest score of the innings. Sonu Khadka added 30 runs while Captain Rubina Chhetri scored 13 runs. Mamta Chaudhary struck 10 runs.
Nepal restricted the UAE at 90/9 in 25 overs. Rubina took four wickets with a bowling figure of 5-1-15-4 to help Nepal to pull easy victory. Esha James, a 10-year old, scored 18 runs for the UAE.
Nepal had defeated China by seven wickets on Friday and Malaysia by 97 runs on Saturday.

ACC U-19 Women’s Championship: Nepal beat Malaysia by 97 runs in Kuwait


 Nepal maintained their winning streak and thrashed Malaysia by 97 runs on Saturday in their second match of the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship being held in Kuwait.
Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Shilu Rijal scored 35 runs and Mamta Chaudhary remained unbeaten with 23 runs as Nepal scored 136 runs for five wickets in 25 overs. Indu Verma contributed 17 runs for Nepali team while Sonu Khadka remained unbeaten for 9 runs.
 Anuradha Chaudhary contributed five runs and Captain Rubina Chhetri scored just three runs. Kabita Gautam, who had scored 25 runs against China on Friday, scored just 2 runs against Malaysia on Saturday.

Syazwani and Nadhirah took two wickets each for Malaysia.
In reply, Malaysia could not resist Nepali bowling attack. Malaysia were all out for 39 runs in 16.2 overs. Player of the match Santoshi Kumari Chaudhary took four wickets giving away 13 runs. Captain Rubina  claimed three wickets giving away 9 runs. Kabita  claimed a wicket while two Malaysian batswomen were run out.
Nepal had beaten China by seven wickets in its first match of the tournament on Friday. Nepal are defending champion of the tournament.
Nepal will take on the UAE on Sunday.

Nepal womens team beat China by 7 wickets!!


Nepal beat China by seven wickets on Friday in their first match of the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship being held in Kuwait.
Nepal won the toss and elected to field first. China were all out for 61 runs in 23.1 overs. Kavita Gautam took three wickets giving away only 11 runs while Sangeeta Gauchan claimed two wickets.
China were at 5/3 after five overs. Ying Lili and Zhu Yiya tried to build the Chinese innings but they were both out after scoring 13 runs each.

After Lili and Yiya returned to the pavilion, Sangeeta Gauchan took two wickets in two balls and Kavita Gautam wrapped the Chinese side for 61 runs in 23.1 overs.
Chasing the small total,Nepal met the target in 15.2 overs losing just three wickets.Nepal lost their first wicket in the fifth over. Shilu Rijal was first Nepali batswomen to return pavilion.
However, Indu Verma played an aggressive knock and scored 15 runs before being bowled out by off-spinner Ding Xiuxiu. By then,Nepal were at 52/3 and remaining batswomen safely guided Nepalto the victory.
Nepal are the defending champion of the tournament.Nepal will take on the UAE on Sunday in their second match of the tournament.

Women’s U-19 team leaves for Kuwait to play ACC U-19 Women’s Championship


Nepali U-19 women’s cricket team left Kathmandu on Tuesday to participate in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship scheduled to be held in Kuwait from February 3 to 10.
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) bode farewell to the 17 member team headed by vice president of CAN Keshav Ghimire on Sunday amidst a function at Youth and Sports Ministry, Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu. Honorable Minister from Youth and Sports Ministry Kamala Roka, President of CAN Tanka Angbuhang and other CAN committee members attended the event and shared the best wishes to the team.

“We are the defending champions of the tournament. So we should definitely look up to win the title. Its not easy though. This time the level of competition is high and we have got new faces in the team. We can never know what happens. But yes, we are looking for the title” said the coach Nabin Singh during the farewell program. Singh is leading the national team for the first time.
Minister Roka wished the team a good luck and wished for the third title in a row. “Concentrate on your game. The team has already got some good records for us. So keep on with that. Give your 100 percent,” said Roka.
The president of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Tanka Nabuhang said ,”Keep up the spirit of winning. I know the team is very good. If you can contirbute in your part, the title is not so far.” Angbuhang wished the team to get the glory again.
Nepal is the two time champions and is looking forward for the title third time in a row. Earlier, Nepal won ACC U-19 championship in 2008 in Thailand and won the trophy again in 2010 in Singapore.
The Nepali U-19 team led by captain Rubina Chhetri is grouped along with China, Malaysia, UAE and Thailand for the 25 overs per side tournament. The top two teams from each pool will progress to the semi finals.
Nepal is playing China on February 3 before taking on Malaysia on February 4. Nepal will lock horns with UAE on February 5 and Thailand on Febraury 7. Stay with me to get the live updates of the Match.
