AFC U-22 Asia cup Qualifiers:AIFF announces 33 members preliminary Squad for U-22 Asian Cup qualifiers


The All India Football Federation today released a list of 33 players preparation camp U-22 to be held in Delhi from June 1 for Asian Cup qualifiers. The list was released after a series of medical tests following a camp held in Bangalore from May 23. After Delhi camp a final list of 23 players will be declared later.
 Arthur Papas will be the head coach.

India have been pitted in Group A of the U-22 Asian Cup qualifiers along with hosts Oman, Iraq, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Turkmenistan.
India will play their first match against Lebanon on June 23.
 The list of 33 players:

Goalkeepers: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Kingfisher East Bengal), Ravi Kumar (Pailan Arrows), Ricardo Cardozo (Tata Football Academy), Soram Poirei Angamba (Shillong Lajong FC).

Defenders: Pritam Kotal, Vishal Kumar, Souvik Ghosh, Prathamesh Maulinkar, Deepak Devrani (all from Pailan Arrows), Irfan Khan, Narayan Das, Yumnam Chingkhei (all from Tata Football Academy), Abhishek Das (Kingfisher East Bengal), Ramandeep Singh (Air India).

CAN announces 15 members squad for ACC U-19 Asia Cup


Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Friday announced 15-member squad for the upcoming ACC U-19 Asia Cup scheduled to be held in Malaysia from June 23 to July 1.
Prithu Baskota will lead the team while Pradeep Airee will be assisting his captain as vice captain. Nepal who is placed in group A will face India, Pakistan and Malaysia in group stage matches.

Other players who were part of the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier included in the squad are Avinash Karn, Bhuwan Karki, Fazlur Rahman Khan, Krishna Karki, Naresh Budhayer, Rahul Vishawakarma, Rajesh Pulami Magar, Sagar Pun and Subash Khakurel.
CAN selected four new cricketers who were no part of the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers held in Ireland last year. They are Hasim Ansari, Gopal Kumar Singh, Saurabh Khanal and Ram Naresh Giri.According to CAN the team was selected on request of Nepalese cricket coach Pubudu Dassanayake 
Four players have been kept as reserve. They are Nischal Pandey, Rupesh Srivastav, Pawan Shrestha and Prajesh Bahadur Singh.
Subendu Pandey, Abhishek Jha, Bijay Ghalan, Binod Lama, Shiva Tandukar and Sushil Kandel were axed from the 26 member preliminary squad who had been undergoing training in closed camp for last couple of weeks in Kathmandu.

Viswanathan Anand defends world chess title for the fifth time


Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand retained the World Chess Championships title for fifth time and fourth in a row, after beating Israel's Boris Gelfand in a tense rapid game tie-breaker in Moscow on Wednesday. Anand beat Gelfand 2.5-1.5 in rapid chess tie-breaker at the Tretyakov Gallery after the two Grandmasters ended the 12-game championship match with a 6-6 stalemate.
The first game of the tie-breaker ended in a draw in 33 moves before Anand beat Gelfand in the second game in 77 moves. The two of the remaining four-game rapid chess tie-breaker ended in a draw as Anand successfully defended his world championship title for the third time in a row. The Indian chess wizard bagged his first world title in 2000 before winning three in a row in 2007, 2008 and 2010. He has been the world champion since 2007.

Anand will pocket approximately $ 1.4 million -- 55 per cent of the total prize fund of $ 2.55 million -- while Gelfand will get the remaining amount. The Indian ace won the 2007 crown in a tournament format among eight players. In 2008 and 2010, he beat Vladimir Kramnik of Russia and Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria respectively after the format changed to championship match between the defending champion and a challenger.

AFC U-22 Group D Qualifiers: AFC U-22 Qualifiers Is Postponed, nest date to be announced soon


It has been confirmed that AFC U-22 Group D Qualifiers, which was scheduled to start in Kathmandu from 2nd of June, is officially postponed. AFC informed all the participating teams about the decision.
 All Nepal Football Association (ANFA)  also confirmed it by saying that the political situation of Nepal was not favourable during that time and now its already late to participating teams to send there player for the tournament in prevous Schedule.
"We are determined to host the qualifiers in Nepal. The qualifiers will not start from 2nd of June but we are in talks with AFC for the fresh date before 23rd June", ANFA official said Media persons. 


Jordan team, which was supposed to leave to Nepal from Amman on Wednesday, has also cancelled the flight.

Mr. Khalil Al-Salem General Secretary of the Jordan football association announced that the AFC will determine the date and venue for the playoffs in the coming days, and that the AFC resumed its contacts with the National Association of the teams participating in this group in order to solicit their opinion on hosting the qualifiers, noting that the qualifiers must take place no later than 23 of next June, which is the unified date for all seven qualifying groups.

The political turmoil in Nepal is expected to be the main reason behind the postponement. 

Schedule and Fixture of ACC U-19 Asia Cup ( Nepal to face india in 23rd June

Asian Cricket Council(ACC) on Wednesday released the fixtures of the upcoming ACC U-19 Asia Cup to be held in Malaysia from June 23 to July 1. This is the tournament started from this year where Non Test playing Nations of Asia can face Asian Test playing Nations in U-19 Format. 

  According to the fixture, Nepal will face India in the first match on June 23 at Kinrara Oval before taking on host Malaysia on June 25 at Selangor Turf Club. Nepal will wrap up their group stage match playing against Pakistan on 26th June at Royal Selangor Club.
   The matches will be of 50 overs per side, informed ACC. The match between Nepal and India will be televised live in Asto Arena TV, Malaysia.
Nepal is placed in Group ‘A’ along with the two times U-19 world cup champions India and Pakistan. Malaysia is also in this group. Similarly, Group B includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Qatar and Sri Lanka. Top two teams from each group will progress to semi final.
