With master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar all set to return from injury and bolster the batting department, Mumbai Indians (MI) would look to continue with their winning ways when they take on another in-form team Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the IPL match at the Wankhede Stadium here today

Mumbai have so far played four matches, winning three and losing one against Pune Warriors by 28 runs. On the other hand, DD have played three matches winning two and losing one against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 20 runs.
Both the teams will be coming into this match on the back of crushing victories. Mumbai are placed on the second spot of the table as they had defeated Rajasthan Royals by 27 runs in their last home match to end their two match unbeaten run.

While, on the other, the number three team DD look a solid team with the return of Kevin Pietersen and Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene, and they look forward to continue their good start to the campaign. Delhi outfit led by Virender Sehwag defeated defending IPL champions Chennai Super Kings in their last encounter by eight wickets.

 The bowling department of MI looks hard to face  comprises of Munaf Patel who holds the purple cap in the competition with a tally of 10 wickets, along with Lasith Malinga and Pollard who bowled well in last match.
 Meanwhile, Delhi bowlers have so far put up a decent show but their main strength is their batting which comprises some of the best players of the world.
 Looking good in his very first match, Pietersen will be a big concern for the Mumbai bowlers. Pietersen and Jayawardene would add experience to the middle order, while Sehwag will look to provide an explosive start on the top of the order.
 In bowling department, Daredevils will be depending heavily on their South African import Morne Morkel who is their highest wicket taker for them in the competition with seven wickets to get them early breakthrough.
n the last IPL season, Mumbai had won both their home and away games against Delhi and they would like to repeat the feat this season as well under new captain Harbhajan Singh. 

ACC Under 19 Elite Cup 2012: Nineteen players called for close camp

None of the top performers in the U-16 National Cricket Tournament held in March in Kathmandu have been called for the closed camp training of ACC U-16 Elite Cup Cricket Tournament to be held from May 2 to 13 inMalaysia.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Sunday named 19 players for the camp but the list does not include Aquib Ali Ansari, Bhim Sarki and Iklakh Ahmed. Ansari was declared best batsman, Sarki the best bowler and Ahmed player of the series during U-16 National Tournament. But the players failed to pass the age verification test taken by CAN and Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

According to the CAN member Kiran Rana, the three failed the age test. “CAN has sent samples of 44 players for the first phase of verification, out of which the ACC has cleared 34 players.”“CAN is planning to bring in new rules which will make it difficult for the players and their parents to hide the actual age of the players,” said Rana.

Four players each from Biratnagar and Birgunj and three each from Bhairahawa and Nepalgunj have been called to the camp. Two each from Baitadi and Janakpur and one from Kathmandu have also been selected. Lokesh Jha, Heman Rai, Kalicharan Yadav, Mukund Yadav of Biratnagar, Samsad Ansari, Alfaz Mansuri, Asif Sheikh, Nitesh Thakur of Birgunj, Noor Dhoj Sen, Rupesh Bastola, Kushal Bhurtel from Bhairahawa, Anup Neupane, Ajay Sahani, Aakash Bista from Nepalgunj, Jagadish Chand, Dipendra Chand from Baitadi, Rabin Gupta, Sashi Bhusan Mishra of Janakpur and Adil Khan from Kathmandu are those called to the camp.

ICC Executive Board meeting started in Dubai

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Executive Board will hold the second of its scheduled 2012 meetings in Dubai, started on 15 April.

The major topics on the agenda are:
In April 2011, the ICC had adopted a new strategic plan which identified the need for an independent governance review as one of its key strategic initiatives to ‘build a bigger, better global game’.
In August 2011, after confirming the scope for the review, the ICC Board appointed Lord Woolf of Barnes and PricewaterhouseCoopers to conduct the review.
 Following extensive engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, Lord Woolf and PwC presented at the last ICC Board meeting their 60 page report which contains 65 recommendations. The Board had agreed to study the report at this April meeting

 The report highlights four fundamental issues:
 1. Ensuring good governance – an effective Board that provides strong leadership.
 2. Ethical standards – essential for ICC to embed the highest ethical standards with Members expected to adopt similar standards.
 3. The reform of Members’ rights – particularly removing the obligation to play Test cricket.
 4. Increasing the resources of the ICC – a self-funded ICC that distributes surplus revenue on a needs basis in its role to promote and develop international cricket across all Members.
 The recommendations are summarised into five main areas:

 ICC Vice-President (2012-2014) nomination
The ICC has received the joint nomination of Mustafa Kamal from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the next ICC Vice-President and who will succeed Mr Alan Isaac as the ICC President in 2014.

Following a Board resolution to change the constitution to split the role of ICC President and Chairman of the Board, this nomination is yet to be considered by the Board.
 The Board will also receive an update on progress made to replace Haroon Lorgat who vacates the position of Chief Executive at the end of the Annual Conference in June 2012. The executive recruitment firm, Egon Zehnder International, is presently conducting a search for a suitable candidate.
Twenty20 strategy and other CEC recommendations for Board consideration
 Following constructive discussions at the March meeting of the Chief Executive’s Committee (CEC), the ICC Board will also discuss and contribute towards enhancing the strategy for Twenty20 cricket in developing the game and managing volume.
The CEC has recommended that the ICC World T20 should remain a joint men’s and women’s event and should be increased to 16 men’s teams from 2014 onwards.
 In addition, CEC also recommended that -

· the maximum number of T20s allowed in the year in which the ICC World Twenty20 is played should be increased by three (twelve to fifteen per Full Member);
Associate and Affiliate Members should consider submitting a proposal to stage an ICC WT20 event in a key developing market;
the current ranking systems be retained in their current form and are fit for the purposes of qualification to ICC events and promotion/relegation;
a preliminary/high level independent evaluation of participation in multi-sport events be undertaken and that the invitation to take part in the Commonwealth Games to be held on the Gold Coast in Australia in April 2018 be explored;
a framework for the recognition of various types of disability cricket be developed.

Schedule of ICC events 2015 to 2023

The ICC has already commenced with planning for the new rights cycle post 2015 and a key prerequisite of this is to determine the ICC events that will be staged. The Board will consider the events to be hosted in this new rights cycle.

Other agenda items include update reports on the implementation of Anti-Corruption Codes at domestic level; the ICC World Test Championship and the promotion of all three formats of international cricket; the ICC Development Programme Strategy, which was supported by the CEC at its last meeting; and approval of the ICC’s audited Annual Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2011.

The ICC Board consists of the president or chairman from each of the 10 Full Members plus three Associate Member representatives. Also present at ICC Board meetings is the ICC President, who chairs proceedings, the ICC Chief

Executive and the ICC Vice-President, as well as by invitation, the ICC Principal Advisor.

Bangladesh to tour Pakistan to play international Cricket

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board were informed on Sunday that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have agreed the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan will take place and will involve one One-Day International and one Twenty20 International to be held in Lahore. The ICC Board, having due regard to its duty of care to match officials and other ICC staff, requested that the PCB to immediately provide a comprehensive security plan for consideration.

Thereafter, the ICC’s Anti Corruption and Security Unit will commission a localised risk assessment to determine whether its officials and staff are appropriately protected by the proposed security plan, before any further decision is taken in relation to their appointment.
 The ODI is scheduled for 29 April 2012 and the Twenty20 will be played one day later at the same venue.
 BCB President Mustafa Kamal said: “The public of Pakistan have been deprived of cricket and we felt that we needed to support them. The reception we received when we toured Lahore and Karachi on our security visit was overwhelming.”
 Zaka Ashraf, the PCB chairman, said: “I want to thank the BCB and the Bangladesh Government for their support for this tour.”
 ICC said it will advise of other agenda items considered by the ICC Board at the conclusion of the meeting tomorrow (Monday) when ICC will hold a press conference

Nico Rosberg takes first win in Chinese GP

Nico Rosberg won the Chinese Grand Prix for Mercedes from pole position on Sunday in the first victory of his 111-race Formula One career.

Britain's Jenson Button finished second for McLaren with team mate and compatriot Lewis Hamilton finishing third for the third race in a row to take the championship lead.

Rosberg's victory was the first by Mercedes, as a works team, since 1955 when Argentine Juan ManuelFangio won the Italian Grand Prix from pole.

At the front it was a stroll in the park. Few expected the Mercedes drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher to maintain their qualifying advantage for the duration of the Chinese Grand Prix, but Rosberg seized the lead at the start and was never threatened thereafter. He went on to take a comfortable victory, 20.6sec clear of his rivals: it was his maiden Formula One success and the first for a Mercedes chassis since Juan Manuel Fangio won the 1955 Italian GP, at Monza.

This year's Mercedes has a reputation for shredding its tyres over a race distance, but cooler temperatures played into the team's hands and Rosberg was able to pull away at his leisure. With no immediate pressure from behind, the German was able to look after his rubber and made only two tyre stops while most of his main adversaries plumped for three.

Rosberg had a buffer during the early stages, with Schumacher sitting a few seconds behind, but the veteran dropped out moments after his first pit stop because he rejoined before his front right wheel had been properly secured.

Despite his comfortable advantage, Rosberg's victory owed a little to good fortune: Jenson Button looked set to challenge the leader, but a sticky left-rear wheel delayed his final stop and dropped the Englishman into traffic.

In the race's closing stages, Rosberg led a queue featuring a blend of cars on fresh and worn tyres – and a volley of passing manoeuvres enlivened the closing laps as several drivers' rubber wilted. Button was able to pick his way through to take second ahead of his McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

"My pace was very good prior to the final stop," said Button, "and I thought I might be able to hunt down Nico towards the end. For that, though, I needed to rejoin on a clear track, but the pit delay put me behind four other cars and I had to fight my way through."

The Red Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel took fourth and fifth, from Romain Grosjean (Lotus, his first F1 points finish), Bruno Senna (Williams), Pastor Maldonado (Williams), Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) and Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber).

Hamilton has finished third in each of this season's first three races and holds a slender championship lead over Button, by 45 points to 43, with Alonso (37) and Webber (36) next up.
