Lamont Peterson appeals to WBA against Amir Khan rematch

World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion Lamont Peterson has launched an appeal against the WBA's decision to grant a rematch to former champion Amir Khan.
Last week, a rematch of the light-welterweight bout was ordered by the WBA after Peterson won in controversial circumstances.

But the Peterson's camp decided to contest this judgment, The BBC reports.

"We are confident the WBA will overturn its decision," said Peterson's camp.

They have also sent a written appeal to the WBA and have urged them to recognize Lamont Peterson as the true and final WBA light-welterweight world champion.

Khan reaction came through his Twitter account in which he said; "Now I've heard Peterson is appealing against the WBA ruling a rematch. He said he was going to give me a rematch after the fight so why go against it?"

Peterson's camp has claimed that Khan's Khan withdrew his appeal to the IBF because his case did not stand up.
